Heat wave! Lake Erie marine forecast July 19-21

Ohio’s having a heat wave. And Lake Erie is the best place to cool off.

The air temperature is forecast to be at least five degrees cooler on the lake, from Avon Point to Willowick. And the water Thursday was 76 degrees at the Cleveland Crib.

Here’s the full open-water forecast from the National Weather Service:

Friday: South-southwest wind 11 to 14 knots, becoming west in the afternoon. Partly sunny. Waves around 2 feet. High of 88.

Friday night: Southwest wind 11 to 14 knots. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Waves around 2 feet. Low of 78.

Saturday: Southwest wind around 11 knots. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Waves 1 to 2 feet. High of 86.

Saturday night: West-southwest wind 6 to 8 knots. A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 a.m. Waves around 1 foot. Low of 76.

Sunday: West-northwest wind around 6 knots. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Waves around 1 foot. High of 81.

Sunday night: Northwest wind around 6 knots becoming north after midnight. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Waves around 1 foot. Low of 70.
