Summer kickoff! Lake Erie marine forecast for Memorial Day weekend

Launch your boat and break out your swimsuit. It’s Memorial Day weekend on Lake Erie!

Unfortunately, the forecast calls for showers, and temperatures are not really swimsuit worthy. Neither is the water temperature — 60 degrees off Toledo and 55 off Cleveland.

Friday: North-northwest wind 5 to 7 knots becoming variable and less than 5 knots in the afternoon. Mostly sunny. Waves 1 to 2 feet. High of 61.

Friday night: East wind 5 to 9 knots becoming SSE after midnight. A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Waves around 1 foot. Low of 58.

Saturday: South wind 12 to 14 knots becoming west-southwest in the afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after noon. Waves 1 to 2 feet. High of 73.

Saturday night: West-southwest wind 9 to 12 knots. Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before midnight, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Waves around 2 feet. Low of 61.

Sunday: West wind around 7 knots. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Waves around 1 feet. High of 69.

Sunday night: Variable winds 5 knots or less. A chance of showers. Waves around 1 foot. Low of 57.

Memorial Day: North-northeast wind around 6 knots. Mostly sunny. Waves around 1 feet. High of 69.
