Sure, the Put-in-Bay season has barely ended. But in this cold and gloomy weather, we’re looking forward to next summer on the Lake Erie Islands.

May 7: Blessing of the Fleet
The annual blessing of boats and aircraft servicing the Bass Islands will be held at 11 a.m. off Fox’s Dock, adjacent to the Jet Express Dock downtown. Local clergy will bless the vessels, a centuries old tradition in ports worldwide. Refreshments will be served on the dock.
May 18: Island-wide Garage Sale
Retail merchants and island homeowners join for one big Island Wide Garage Sale on Saturday May 18. Map with locations for the Garage Sale will be available the week of the garage sale. Don’t miss the big bargains at the Heritage Resale Shop at the Historical Museum.
May 24–27: Memorial Day weekend
Friday through Monday active duty service persons and veterans get discounts at many local businesses, free passage to the island on both ferries and special discounts on Memorial Day. The annual “Salute to the Troops” ceremony honoring our veterans at Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial is on Monday.
June 8: Third Annual Put-in-Bay Music Festival
Family Friendly festival that features different genres of music, to celebrate peace through music, at the Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial. Field games, corn toss and music workshops throughout the day.
June 15: 45th Founders Day
Celebrate the founding of Put-in-Bay by Hispanic merchant Jose DeRivera. Many vendors, hot dogs, strawberry “shore-cake”, root beer floats, and lots of fun in DeRivera Park 11:00am – 4:00pm
June 15-16: U.S. Brig Niagara
Scheduled for dock tours at Fox’s Dock, next to the Jet Express 10-5pm Saturday and Sunday
June 21-32: Put-in-Bay Pyrate Fest XI
Put-in-Bay’s 11th Annual Pyrate Fest sees the return of the Pyrate King for 4 days to find his stolen treasure. Friday night the pyrates invade the downtown harbor and hoist the Pyrate Flags! Saturday fun actives for the entire family, including Kids Costume Contest and an adult costume contest with the winner headed on a vacation! Sunday is the annual Kids Fest and the fourth annual 5k Pyrate Run and fun walk benefiting Stein Hospice. Pyrate Village with Pyrate Marketplace, Faire Wynds Circus, historic displays and lots of re-enactors in pyrate gear. Dress as a pyrate and join in the fun. July 19-21: Put-in-Bay Jeep Invasion
The 4th annual PIB Jeep invasion welcomes all Jeeps to a weekend of fun on Lake Erie. All Jeeps are welcome however due to limited space at some of the Island venues the event is accepting registration for only 200 Jeeps. A meet & greet will be held at South Bass Island State Park shelter house on Friday July 19th. A Show and Shine will be held at Heineman’s Winery on Saturday July 20th. Antique Jeeps are invited to join in on the Antique Car Parade on Sunday!

July 26-28: Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association
Lake Erie Offshore Performance Association will be hosting its signature event, Thunderfest, the weekend of July 26 at Put-in-Bay, Ohio. Check out the event website http://thunderfest.us for registration.
Aug. 3-14: Island Green Week
The Lake Erie Islands Nature & Wildlife Center, Lake Erie Islands Conservancy, OSU’s Stone Laboratory, the Put-in-Bay Township Park District, and the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society, have collaborated to produce a week of Ecotourism, Adventure Travel, and Agritourism. This weeklong celebration, The 4th Annual Island Green Week, 2019, will run from August 3rd to August 14th. This event will allow visitors to learn more about the island’s many natural treasures that are on the Lake Erie Islands through a variety of events all in one week.
Aug. 8: Lake Erie Islands Historical Society Auction

Sept. 7: Art in the Park
Area and regional arts and craftspeople display and sell their ORIGINAL works in photography, watercolor, acrylic, pottery, glass and many other mediums. Live demonstrations and a silent auction that will benefit a local charity. 10:00am – 5:00pm in DeRivera Park.
Sept. 7-8: U.S. Brig Niagara

Sept. 14: New Year’s Eve at the Bay
Island businesses celebrate New Year’s Eve with Monte Carlo street games, 6-11 .m.
Sept. 21: Halfway to St. Patty’s Day
Celebrate the half-way mark to St. Patrick’s Day. Hooligan’s Irish Pub sponsors a Drum and Bagpipe Band, dress up your golf cart and join in the parade that starts at 1:45 p.m. Island restaurants will serve Irish-themed food and beverages.
Sept. 24-26: 10th Annual Vintage Sports Car Road Race Reunion
The 10th annual 2018 Put-in-Bay Sports Car Races event is now history and by all measures was a huge success! Tentative dates for 2019 have been set for Sept. 24-27 with racing on Wednesday and Thursday.
Sept. 28: Tailgate weekend
Dress in your favorite team’s colors, jerseys and gear and join us for Tailgate Weekend at the Bay. You’ll find your favorite team playing on one of the many big screens on the island. Join the Lake Erie Islands Brown Backers at their annual tailgate.
Oct. 5: Island Wine Festival
Sample foreign and domestic wines, including island wines and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of food and excellent wine. Admission includes a souvenir wine glass. Samples tickets are $1 and most of the samples are in the $2-$5 range. 11 a.m-5p.m. at Put-in-Bay Winery at the Doller Estate on Bay View Avenue, Downtown Put-in-Bay. Winery tours and a large silent auction that benefits the Lake Erie Islands Historical Society are some of the activities.
Oct. 12-13: Oktoberfest
The 27th annual German–style Festival features German food, hot spiced wine and cold beer. Oktoberfest is open Saturday 11 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday noon– 5 p.m. Fantastic food including brats, potato pancakes, apple dumplings, pierogi, cabbage and noodles, chicken paprikash and wonderful desserts provided by Put-in-Bay Chamber of Commerce member restaurants. Live polka and German style music entertain both days. Souvenir apparel, and beer glasses will be for sale as well as many great raffle items.
Oct. 26: Halloween at the Bay
Downtown taverns decorate for Halloween at the Bay. People in costumes flood the downtown streets for Put-in-Bay’s final weekend of the season. Some establishments will have costume contests and prizes.
