Summer vacation is over. But you can still take a mini break, dining on the water at one of Cleveland’s many patios.

Here are five to visit before the sun sets on patio season.

Pickle Bill’s: Full disclosure, I’ve never visited this restaurant on the banks of the Grand River, just down the street from Mentor Headlands State Park. But it has a rainbow-colored carousel bar! And a clambakes until November!

101 River Street, Grand River. Open Tuesday-Friday 4-9 p.m., Saturday 3-9 p.m., Sunday 1-9 p.m.

Bar 32: The name says it all, on the 32nd floor of the downtown Cleveland Hilton Hotel. The space — especially the balcony — is tiny, but the view is spectacular. Hit it for an upscale happy hour before the winter winds start howling.

100 Lakeside Ave. East, Cleveland. Open 5 p.m.-1 a.m.

Lago: Winner of cleveland.com’s Best Patio Contest, Lago has fine dining and cushy club couches, steps away from the Cuyahoga River in the Flats.

1101 W 10th St., Cleveland. Open Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m.-1:30 a.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-2:30 a.m.

Whiskey Island Still & Eatery: This unpretentious spot spills out of an old sawmill and sprawls across the grass on the Cleveland Metroparks’ Whiskey Island. The fried perch and burgers are good, but the star is the sunsets, lighting up the dozens of boats in the marina. And best of all, you can hear live music and bring your kids.

2800 Whiskey Island, Cleveland. Open Friday 5 p.m.-2:30 a.m., Saturday-Sunday Noon-2:30 a.m.

Merwin’s Wharf: Ogle a giant laker or an endless parade of crew teams while dining at the Metroparks restaurant. There’s a fire pit, giant Connect Four and Jenga, big pretzels and kids meals.

1785 Merwin Ave., Cleveland. Open Tuesday-Thursday 11 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday-Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Note: Hours are of Sept. 27
