About Rock the Lake
Rock the Lake is the creation of the Cleveland Lakefront Collaborative, a group of CEOs who met to collaborate and share big ideas during monthly “beerstorming” gatherings. One such idea: promoting Lake Erie events and attractions in a tourism website that would tell visitors and Clevelanders alike where they could dock their boats, fish or enjoy a meal with a view.
Jon Stahl, CEO of LeanDog, a tech company headquartered on a 100-year-old barge next to Burke Lakefront Airport, volunteered a domain name. About a dozen organizations chipped in, and RocktheLake.com was born in time for the Republican National Convention to bring thousands of bigwigs to the North Coast.
A year later, cleveland.com is taking the helm, aiming to capture the lure of the lake and post up-to-the-minute news about Ohio’s lakefront.

About Laura Johnston
I’m a Great Lakes girl. Born in Point Edward, Ontario, Canada, where Lake Huron meets the St. Clair River, I was raised in Akron, Ohio. Now I live a mile from Lake Erie with my husband, two kids and 90-pound dog, in a house full of driftwood and beach glass. I love to swim open-water in the summer and run near the lake year-round. I’m not bad at kayaking, I’m learning how to sail, and I just got a stand-up paddleboard.
If you love the lake, we should probably be friends. And if you know how to fish, please teach me.
